The Longleaf Pine tree has a tremendously long root. This was one of the 964 trees that we had harvested for timber. The loggers leave the stumps and if you want to have pasture you get the guy with the bulldozer to come push, pull and burn the stumps. Only about 2 feet of the tree stump is showing above ground and then this tremendous tap-root is below. I know a few folks that have deep roots and they are not easliy uprooted either.
