I truly thanked God every day for His blessings and for His amazing creation. Thank you for your encouraging comments and your many, many “Likes”. My posting 366 of my photos was a little bit of a project but I did it! I have heard it said that to move past the “planning” stage into the “doing” stage is the hard part! So….What’s happening next year?
The captain of the Japan Airline plane made an announcement that Mt. Fuji could be seen from the left hand side of the plane. I immediately went into action, grabbed my camera and moved to a vacant seat….. the mountain was glowing from the sun shining in just the right spot. Later as I was looking at the picture the Scripture from Psalm 90:2 came to my mind….”Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.” I feel like I have seen one more evidence of the AWESOME God of creation.
UP, UP and away to Japan! We are heading west but they call it the Far East??? I guess it matters where you start. Only 2 hours of car travel to airport, 18 hours of flight time, 5 hours layover time and a 2 hour bus ride away from the kiddos!
There is an old hymn that we sing…. “Paradise Valley”. The Paradise Valley referenced in the song is heaven but looking out on this beautiful river I think that we might have just a glimpse. Thank you, God for the many beautiful places that YOU created for us.
I had the privilege to photograph two wonderful families yesterday. I am happy to say that both are my friend and my family in the Lord. The weather was perfect and the sunset a gift from GOD. Everyday I stand amazed at His works!
In a run down old building in the heart of Soldotna, AK, someone decided to open a coffee shop and offer expensive coffee and really delicious pastries. I wasn’t drawn in by the smell of the coffee… I was struck by the simplicity and beauty of the fence and fireweed. The Alaskan’s say that when the fireweed is gone… summer is over.
If you are interested in spotting whales, sea lions, and puffins while out glacier watching, cruise in Kenai Fjords. The day that we went out it was freezing, blowing cold and later bright bluebird blue skies. No, I didn’t see any whales, but I did see an island full of sea lions and a glacier calving. It all depends upon where you are in the day cruise. I think that I could make an application to life but I will let you do that.
Do you think that this fisherman is thinking about his stock portfolio, the next natural disaster or what’s going on at work? I hope not…. there needs to a place where your mind can rest. The magic sound of flowing water, clean, crisp air filling your lungs and the ever-present anticipation of a yummy salmon on the dinner plate is better than any mood medication. Near Coopers Landing, Alaska.
“In the very beginning of time, God established the seasons – “Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years'” (Genesis 1:14; cf. Psalm 104:19). After the flood, Noah appeased God’s anger by offering a burnt sacrifice; God then said He would not destroy the world again by water “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease” (Genesis 8:21-22).” Jody Broyles
I have never had much interest or knowledge about the technical aspects of photography. I don’t often do anything except change the “Scene Mode” on my camera. BUT I am branching out a little. I messed with the f-stop for this photo to try to make the water have that mystical quality that so many nature photos have…. I still have a lot to learn.
