I truly thanked God every day for His blessings and for His amazing creation. Thank you for your encouraging comments and your many, many “Likes”. My posting 366 of my photos was a little bit of a project but I did it! I have heard it said that to move past the “planning” stage into the “doing” stage is the hard part! So….What’s happening next year?
It is never too early to develop the love of the land. Kids think “work” is fun when they are this age. Emily loved helping in her GrandDad’s cabbage patch. Now that she’s a big girl… I pray everyday that she will keep her feet on the ground, her hands close to the soil and her heart on GOD! Only 4 post to go!
We had a feast…. remembered a wonderful day on the river and fantasized about next year’s adventure. This gorgeous sockeye or his cousin was prepared perfectly. I say take a “recipe” and make it your own. Trust me the writer of this “recipe” did the same thing.
ALWAYS start with wild caught salmon (my preference is Lower Kenai River sockeye caught in August). Portion each filet to about 4-6 oz, place on a square of tin foil 12 inches or so. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice a sweet Vidalia onion and place a generous amount of onion on each filet. (Is there any other kind of onion?) Sprinkle with Garlic salt, cracked pepper and if you are of the nature a little red-hot chili pepper. Place a small pat of butter and 2 tablespoons of Meyers lemon juice (fresh squeezed from your own tree if possible.) Close the package up leaving air space at the top… Cook for about 30 minutes. Serve each person their own package so they can enjoy the delicious liquid created during the cooking process.

Woke up this morning in Sasebo, Japan thinking about home a little… thinking about the family from church and missing Kenai, our black lab. I was still looking for a picture for today’s post and decided on this one taken a few days before we left .. .I thanked my friends for letting me take their photos with the family and their dogs and arranging such a sunset. Andrew said that he was only responsible for the first two… God had arranged the last. Thank you GOD!
The captain of the Japan Airline plane made an announcement that Mt. Fuji could be seen from the left hand side of the plane. I immediately went into action, grabbed my camera and moved to a vacant seat….. the mountain was glowing from the sun shining in just the right spot. Later as I was looking at the picture the Scripture from Psalm 90:2 came to my mind….”Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.” I feel like I have seen one more evidence of the AWESOME God of creation.
“Who invited you?” “Sourdough” the donkey seems to be saying to Kenai. The feeder is on his side of the fence. Now this was the meanest donkey ever…. he bit the calves, chased Kenai and created havoc in the pasture. “Sourdough” no longer lives on SunnySide Farm.
Every family has a story. Do you know yours? Take a few moments and ask the where and who and why…. the more we know about our history just might give us a better view of our future. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. “Come see us… I’ll take your picture.”
UP, UP and away to Japan! We are heading west but they call it the Far East??? I guess it matters where you start. Only 2 hours of car travel to airport, 18 hours of flight time, 5 hours layover time and a 2 hour bus ride away from the kiddos!
The colors of these flowers makes me think about the story of the creation of the candy canes. If you do not know the story look it up. God made this beautiful peony long before the red and white candy cane was made.
